CITIES
Indian cities hold immense potential for growth and development. As per 2026 projections, Mumbai leads with a GDP of over $310 billion, followed by Delhi, Kolkata, Bengaluru, and Chennai. Beyond these major metros, smaller cities have significant untapped potential to grow their economies and improve the quality of life for their residents.
However, several key challenges hinder this progress. Many municipalities have clearly defined problem statements but lack the technical expertise required for effective implementation. In many cases, executing projects within budget and operational constraints
becomes difficult. Financial limitations further add to the challenge—especially as Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) are expected to raise funds from the market for infrastructure and development projects, despite limited experience in engaging with private players and financial institutions. Additionally, cities often struggle to identify and access the right partners, service providers, and resources needed to execute projects efficiently.
To address these gaps and enable cities to realise their full potential, CGAPP has undertaken focused initiatives aimed at strengthening cities’ ability to implement solutions by connecting them with the right expertise, partners, and resources.
