About CGAPP India
Centre for Global Affairs and Public Policy – CGAPP (formerly CGSK) is a non-profit, independent organisation set up in 2021 facilitating interdisciplinary research on governance, economy and issues of global significance. It purports to generate research on issues related to sustainable development, public policy, evaluation of government interventions, economic policy, trade and commerce as well as international relations and politics and regional and global dynamics from an Indian perspective.
CGAPP brings together a body of prominent academicians, scholars and professionals from diverse disciplinary and professional backgrounds articulating different positions on themes and issues to facilitate constructive policy design and issues and encourage broader awareness about global affairs. Our organisation intends to collaborate with national and international research organizations to promote greater exchange and dissemination of ideas on issues of common concern.
In order to achieve these objectives, CGAPP seeks funding support for its projects from different governmental and private organisations as well as from funding agencies of both national and international import.

Satish Nambudiripad is a DG (Director General) level officer working with the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Govt. of India.
During his 30 plus years of service, he has handled diverse positions both in the Government of India and in his home state of Kerala, including that of the Private Secretary to Union Minister for Food & Public Distribution and Consumer Affairs,
Director (Secondary Education)
and Registrar of Copyrights India in the Union Ministry of HRD, Deputy Press Secretary to the President of India, late Dr. K.R. Narayanan as well as CEO of NRK- ROOTS, under Non- Resident Keralites Affairs Department, to name a few.
He has been trained in various aspects of public policy, communication governance, performance management and public-private partnership initiatives etc from institutes like IIPA Delhi, IIM Bangalore, LBSNAA, Mussoorie, University of East Anglia, UK and University of California, Berkeley.
Adept in strategic planning and policy formulation, he brings with him an eye for the details and nuanced approach in programme implementation and project evaluation.
Subhomoy Bhattacharjee
Subhomoy Bhattacharjee (Twitter: @subhomoyb) is Consulting Editor at the Business Standard newspaper. He works on public policy, primarily finance, energy and urban issues. His latest book “India’s Coal Story”, traces how India’s coal reserves was at the centre of a major political scandal that nearly sent a Prime Minister to jail. It explores why since Independence, Indian business and government could not settle the rights on energy security, creating the murky politics of coal–& sketches the options for India’s future energy security. His earlier book was “Special Economic Zones in India; Myths and Realities” (co-authored). He has read Economics at the Delhi School of Economics, Delhi University and at Shri Ram College of Commerce. He has worked in the Govt of India as part of Indian Information Service & has since moved to The Economic Times, Indian Express & Financial Express newspapers. He is Senior Adjunct Fellow with Delhi based think tank Research and Information System for Developing Countries (RIS). He teaches undergraduate students Economics at OP Jindal Global University. He is also a regular commentator on television channels for their business news programmes. His next book on the conflicting role of political and permanent executive in the government and the implications for framing public policy, is due to be published soon.

The Hindi Edition went in to reprint just in 20 days of the launch. Dr Amitendu Palit is Senior Research Fellow and Research Lead (Trade and Economics) at the Institute of South Asian Studies, National University of Singapore. He is an economist specializing in international trade and investment policies, FTAs, supply chains, connectivity, cross-border data flows and the Indian economy. He sits on the World Economic Forum’s Global Future Council on Trade and Investment. He is Senior Research Fellow (Honorary) at the Wong Centre for Study of MNCs and Adviser for Athena Infonomics. A regular columnist and commentator on television, Dr Palit has edited and authored several books on trade, investment and macroeconomic policy.
Jayanta Roy Chowdhury
Jayanta Roy Chowdhury is a senior journalist and Consulting Editor of The Secretariat. Prior to this he headed PTI’s eastern region network.He has been a journalist for nearly three decades, specialising on political and economic issues including the politics behind financial and economic legislations, international trade, development issues, etc. He has a wide range of interests ranging from contemporary history to security and international relations. He has earlier worked for the United News of India, The Pioneer & The Telegraph and the Express group . He has also on occasion written for the Businessworld, Yojana, `Desh’ (Bengali) and London-based Asian Affairs magazines.
An Economics Graduate from Delhi University, Jayanta was Chevening Fellow(awarded by the British Government) in Development Economics at University of Bradford, UK.He has frequently appeared as an expert analyst on television and radio shows including on All India Radio’s Market Mantra. He has been a guest lecturer on journalism for undergraduate students at Delhi University. He is currently a member of the Executive Committee of the Commonwealth Journalists’ Association and also General Secretary of its India chapter. CJA is an international body of Journalists involved in training and nurturing newspersons from Commonwealth countries, accredited to the Commonwealth Secretariat.

Ashish Pahwa
Ashish Pahwa (27 years) is an engineer by training & entrepreneur by heart. He is the President of the Indian Youth Climate Network (IYCN), a youth-led organisation, inspiring young people to actively participate in climate change negotiations and building local solutions. Formerly serving as Joint Secretary of IYCN, his work areas include Circular Economy, Resource Efficiency, Right to Repair & Climate Leadership Development. Under his leadership, IYCN has sent 3 delegations to COP and Bonn conferences, involving 12 young leaders from across India. He has led capacity-building programs on Circular Economy & Resource Efficiency that enrolled over 350 young individuals from across India. Ashish is also a founder of Circular for Zero Foundation, a social enterprise which offers innovative waste management solutions to bulk waste generators, and develops circular business models. He is the recipient of the prestigious Bevisioneers: Mercedes-Benz Scholarship.

Megha Nath
Megha is a Project Officer with the Energy & Environment team at Institute of Sustainable Communities (ISC). She has worked in several sectors, including power, coastal and marine ecosystems, forest conservation, agro-forestry, agricultural innovation, nutrition, water, carbon markets and energy efficiency. Her research uses economic valuation, market simulation, impact evaluation, stakeholder mapping and consultations.
Prior to ISC, she worked at World Resources Institute where she created a data visualization dashboard for the Bureau of Energy Efficiency and advanced WRI’s research on carbon markets. She previously built the India chapter for Power Explorer under WRI’s Resource Watch.
After her master’s in environmental economics from Madras School of Economics she worked with multilaterals, funding organizations, think tanks, government departments and understands how social development and environmental ecosystem operate. Megha supported Indian Society for Ecological Economics (INSEE) as managing editor to launch their first Journal – the Ecology, Economy and Society in 2018. She has also taken social entrepreneurial initiatives to build a business model and road map for policy implementation to utilize wastewater in urban spaces in India. She conceptualized the project (“Rent-O-Rewa”), to map wastewater demand and existing supply sources to commercial treated water in Bangalore, India. The idea was incubated at “Greenpreneurs” at Green Growth GGI, Korea in 2019.

Ritwik Sarkar is a social sector professional with more than 15 years of experience in the field of research and development. He started his professional career at Seva Mandir, a leading NGO in India, working in remote villages of Udaipur. He is currently working with The International Initiative for Impact Evaluation (3ie). Ritwik has previously worked for the Institute for Financial Management and Research, J-PAL and the World Bank, both in India and Indonesia. Ritwik has a Master’s degree in Social Policy from the London School of Economics.

Anindya Sengupta
Anindya Sengupta is an angel investor, author and former civil servant. His areas of interest are Indian and international economy, public policy, and history. He has published two books in English and Hindi on history and public policy. He is the co-author of Laxminama (Bloomsbury, 2018), a book published both in English and Hindi, exploring the relationship between business and religion in India. Preeti has worked as a Research Partner on Dr. Katie Conlon’s National Geographic Explorer Project “Himalayas to Sea, Plastic Free” and with CGAPP on “Tackling Plastic Pollution in Ganga Basin”. Preeti is working as a Climate Expert with Seeds of Peace on the “Students Society of Climate Change Awareness” Project.Preeti has joined as a Consultant at CGAPP for the CGAPP Sustainability Alliance.
